Create Decorated Eggs in the Ukrainian Style | Ivanka Lempitskiy

In the Egg Decorating class students will learn how to decorate an empty cleaned chicken egg shell using beeswax and vegetable dyes. This old tradition of celebrating the new circle of life, which is an egg itself, has been around for hundreds of years. The designs to apply to the egg, vary in lines, colors, and images. It is common to draw the scenes from everyday life of people, and also to apply any symbolic patterns. Participants will decorate and take home two eggs at the class. They will work with special tool to draw images on the egg and will be using vegetable dyes to color the eggs. Some ancient history of more than 2000 year old art of painting the egg will be presented to the students.

This beginner level class is offered Sundays Mar. 21, Mar. 28 and Apr. 11. The class time is 2 - 5pm.

(Saturday morning classes are available May 8 and June 19 from 10am to 1pm; Saturday afternoon class available May 8 from 2pm - 5pm)
(Sunday afternoon classes are available from 2 - 5pm on April 11 & 18). 

Fee: $35 per class, due on the day of class. Instructor will provide all materials and tools needed for the class.

Teacher Bio:

Ivanka Lempitskiy was born and raised in Ukraine. She worked as a high school teacher of Math and Physics, enjoyed teaching a lot but was always fascinated with arts and crafts. After moving to the USA, she started to take her Art more seriously. Ivanka likes to paint, make jewelry, and decorate Easter Eggs in Ukrainian style with beeswax and dyes. In 2013 she received the Amos Shinkle Award for her necklace at Duveneck Art Show, in Covington, KY. She is an active member of WACC of Cincinnati and Brush and Palette Painters of Cincinnati. She has a studio at the POP Revolution Gallery Art Studios in Mason, OH.
