This will be a fun, interactive, hands-on workshop in brush-marker calligraphy. During the three-hour long class, students will:

• explore different types of markers
• learn how to properly hold your pen
• gain an understanding of guideline terminology
• practice basic strokes
• try out a "modern" calligraphy alphabet
• practice a sign-painting inspired alphabet
• learn how to achieve that modern “bouncy” calligraphy look
• explore different applications for this fun, playful medium
• walk away with an envelope addressed in their own brush calligraphy

The class is designed for adults, but kids 13 and older are welcome with adult supervision. Amy will be teaching towards beginners - no prior experience necessary. If you do have some lettering experience, you will also benefit from the techniques taught in this class.

Artist Bio:

Amy Owens is a certified instructor of the American Cursive Handwriting System created by Master Penman Michael Sull. She has years of experience doing modern, brush, pointed pen, and broad-edge calligraphy and has recently expanded into teaching online to both adults and children. She has a background in architecture and graphic design and currently homeschools her four children.
