Learn to draw with an experienced portrait artist and teacher with over 40 years of work. Begin by understanding the basics and proportions of the face in charcoal. See both mediums demonstrated before closely guided instruction for students. Understand how to use value and color zones of the face. Experience working from a live subject and photographs. Understand manipulation of various materials. Prior experience recommended but not necessary.

Class materials and supplies are all included.

 Instructor Bio:

Elliott Jordan grew up in Versailles, KY. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Art from Murray State University and a Master’s degree in Art Education from the University of Kentucky. Jordan worked for Cincinnati Public Schools for 25 years as an art teacher. He is the owner of Elliott Jordan Studio Gallery in Pleasant Ridge where he has been for over 23 years. He primarily works in a traditional style as well as using mixed media with a more liberal approach to composition and color. Jordan’s subject matter includes children, black legends, family, and celebrities. He has traveled to and imported art from Ghana West Africa. Jordan enjoys traveling and is now located part-time in the Dominican Republic.
