ARTFLIX ON THURSDAY, May 12 at 7PM: "ANSEL ADAMS

Join us for "Ansel Adams", a PBS AMerican Experience documentary (2002). Ansel Adams: A Documentary Film, was written and directed by Ric Burns and co-produced by Sierra Club Productions and Steeplechase Films. For the centennial of the artist's birth, Burns has created an elegant, moving, and lyrical portrait of this quintessentially American photographer. The documentary weaves together archival footage, photographic images, dramatic readings of the artist's own writing, and interviews with leading photographers, historians, curators, naturalists, as well as Adams's family, friends, and colleagues, to tell the story of a man who was at once a visionary photographer, a pioneer in photographic technique, and an ardent crusader for the cause of environmentalism (PBS.org). Get "smart about art" and join us for Art Flix at the Barn, a series of great movies about art and artists hosted by Dave Laug in the Loft. On the second Thursday of each month, artist and educator Dave Laug selects a movie or documentary about artists, art collecting or art history from his vast movie archives. Dave is your host for the evening, providing the introduction, a scintillating post-movie discussion, and fantastic door prizes. BYOB. The big Barn doors open at 6:30 pm and the film will start at 7:00pm. Registration fee of $5 covers administrative costs associated with this educational program. Walkins welcome as long as empty seats are available.
