Wednesday, May 13, 2015, 12:30pm - 03:00pm
by adminHits : 2514

Wednesdays 12:30 - 3:00pm

In this class, students of all levels and ages will have the opportunity to paint and/or  draw from the clothed model at each and every class. Class focus will be on the study of the clothed model, basic shapes, values, color temperature, composition, painting and drawing techniques.

Often viewed by many as intimidating and challenging, painting and drawing the figure can be just as approachable as a still life or landscape. In each session, instructor Deborah Ridgley, will discuss, with weekly demonstrations and one on one instruction, how to achieve spontaneity, character and life in your figurative and portrait paintings. Based on the method of the old masters, you will learn a proven method to accurately draw and paint the model.

We may have some sessions where we concentrate on the clothed figure and everything but the face.

Open for any level student,  there will be instruction on limited palettes  (3-4 tubes of paint) as well as advanced palettes ( 7-9 tubes ).  Students choose to concentrate on their drawing skills (including pastels ) or painting skills. Most classes will include a demonstration from the instructor of the “alla prima” technique, employed by John Singer Sargent and handed down through generations of atelier painters and teachers.

Spring Session One - April 1, 8, 15 & 22.
Spring Session Two - April 29 & May 6, 13, 20.

There is a limited number of spaces for this class.

Comment from an adult student:  "I learned more in the first class with you this session, than in all my years of being an artist."

$120 for a 4 week session,  plus $7.50 a class for the model fees.
