Design and create a landscape art quilt using basic, paints, and thread painting.
Noted fiber artist Larry McKenney will teach you how to create a lush landscape quilt of your own design.
Please bring the following materials to the class:
- 1 foam core board (20x30is a good size) covered with batting. Wrap the batting around the board and tape to the back.
- small rotary cutter ( I use an 18mm)
- scissors (both small and large are helpful)
- 1 box of parchment paper
- Fabrics: choose fabrics that you want for your landscape in colors that appeal to you. I like to use textured fabrics like batiks (they blend well). Quarter to half yard cuts are good. Try to choose some good lights, mediums, and darks. Choose a good "sky" fabric. You can use traditional blue or perhaps be bold and go for sunset or even purples. There are no right or wrong choices. For trees, choose a textured fabric in either black, gray, or brown. There are several "tree" fabrics available, so choose what speaks to you. I will have some available if you cannot find something you like.
- 1/2 to 1 yard of plain white fabric (can be muslin). This will be your base on which you will design and fuse your landscape Since you will be working on a board that is 20x30 inches, a piece of fabric this size will be best to work on. Misty Fuse and fabric paints will be provided as part of the class fee. Bring an empty paper towel roll to put the fuse on. It will make it easier to handle.
- small cutting mat
Cost: $30 (covers the cost of materials supplied). To register for the class contact Larry McKenney at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 859-344-9082
