This class focuses on the painterly qualities and strong color favored by the “les Fauves” (wild beasts!) in France during the early 1900’s.

Using painting materials of their choosing, participants create lively portraits or figural works from photographs or other images. A bit of art history, fauvist images and discussion provide a basis from which students draw inspiration and guidance to embark on their own colorful expression!
