Come see the stunning winners of "The LION KING Cherrywood Challenge" quilt contest! The contestants (representing 41 states and 7 countries) each started with three shades of the official Lion King golds and black to create a twenty-inch square quilt, using whatever technique they liked. Accent colors of Cherrywood were allowed. Since the theme started out as “King of the Jungle” until Disney came on board, you will see a variety of lions as well as influences from the Broadway hit musical and animated movie. After jurying down 304 entries, the Traveling Exhibit of 120 amazing quilts has started touring around the country. The variety is amazing, the creativity is inspiring and the workmanship is incredible. This is one exhibit not to be missed. These are small works of art using hand-dyed fabric as their medium - all forms of fabric manipulation and fiber art are represented. Twenty of the quilts have been chosen by Disney to be displayed on Broadway for their 20th Anniversary in 2018. Cherrywood Hand Dyed Fabric, from Baxter/Brainerd, MN, acquired the endorsement of Disney to present “The LION KING Cherrywood Challenge.”
