The Barn (Woman’s Art Cultural Center) welcomes plein air artists from around the Tri-State to participate in a springtime paint-out in Mariemont. Participants will have an opportunity to win cash and prizes for their work including Best of Show, First, Second and Third places, as well as a few specialty categories, provided, in part, by the Helms Charitable Trust, Damon and Melissa Powell, and Plaza Art in Madeira.

The entry process begins on Friday evening, May 3 from 5 - 7 pm and on Saturday morning from 7 - 9am when artists may bring their blank canvases to the Barn so event staff may stamp them. Artists, then, will have until Saturday afternoon May 4 at 4pm to submit them for competition. Paintings will hang until Sunday, May 12 in the Barn’s gallery where they will be available for purchase by the general public. The show is also open on Sunday, May 5 from 11 am - 2pm. Weekday hours (Tuesday - Friday, May 7 - 11) are 10am to 2pm. Saturday, May 11, the show is open 11 am to 2pm. For a Mothers' Day treat, Sunday May 12, the artists will be painting up in the Loft from 1 to 4pm.

Oil painter Bruce Petrie of Cincinnati will serve as judge.

Petrie began oil painting with American Master Thomas Buechner in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York. Since that time, Bruce has refined his skills through many hours of painting outdoors directly from nature in the United States and in France, Italy, Canada, Mexico and Guatemala. He paints in the parklands and natural areas near his home in Southwestern Ohio, as well as in the great American West. He is a member of a guild of artists who meet weekly in Cincinnati and share a dedication to the art of oil painting. He presents his artwork regularly in distinguished private collections.
