This holiday season eighty quilts from the Prince Tribute Tour from an international quilt competition will be on display December 9-23rd, 2019 at the Woman’s Art Club Cultural Center, “The Barn” 6980 Cambridge Avenue in Mariemont, Ohio. This free exhibit is sponsored by the Cherrywood Fabric Company and Fiber Art at the Barn. There will be extended viewing hours from 10amp-5pm Monday through Friday and 1-4pm on the weekends. Fiber artists worldwide compete to be in this annual fabric competition. Local art quilt artist Larry McKenney will return for the third time in as many competitions. Competitors were given specific purple fabrics and parameters and in 2018 the challenge was to create a commemorative piece of art celebrating the life and music of pop icon PRINCE. Examples of Little Red Corvette, Raspberry Beret, Lonesome Dove, and many other Prince hits will be found among the quilts.

As a complement to this exquisite collection of quilts, there will be a display of custom-made guitar furniture from Cincinnati artist Rick Metz, owner of Rick J Metz Functional Art. Rick loves music and invented the Guitar Chair to celebrate his favorite musical instrument. Rick’s furniture can be seen in television shows, in recording artists’ homes and studios. The Barn is honored to showcase his functional art with the Prince exhibit.

Fiber Art at the Barn welcomes all music and quilt enthusiasts to this amazing showcase of the love and life of Prince in quilts, and to celebrate the artistic expression of a man who is still designing and creating furniture that celebrates the guitar.
