This class is specifically designed for the returning or advanced student and artist who is already familiar with painting. The intent of this series of demonstrations and classes is to equip that student with higher level techniques that typical workshops do not have time to touch on. Concepts such as: blending and softening edges; how to choose the right color for glazing; understanding how to transition between stages in painting; how to know when you need to start using thick paint as opposed to thin; how to transition from scrubs to actual paint buildup - these are some of the techniques that will be addressed in this unique and phenomenal approach to higher level oil painting.

The emphasis of this class will not be as much to finish an original painting as to learn to paint with certain techniques that there is not often time for in a class rushed to just finish a painting.  Students will chose from one of two pre-chosen projects that include all the above mentioned elements to work from.

This class will include step-by-step instruction, demonstrations of each concept and technique,  – edge blending, color mixing for glazing, how to know which brush to use, when to paint thin, when to paint thick, etc -, and much hands on instruction.  You will be walked, step by step, through each stage and concept addressed  until you understand it and you will leave this class with a beautiful work of art and a greater understanding of painting on a more advanced level than most. You will be surprised at how much you are capable of doing once equipped with the techniques you will learn in this class and your work will reflect this. Be prepared to love painting more than you ever thought you could.

This class runs for 5 weeks and meets Thursday nights, starting June 11 through July 16 (no class June 18).
Cost:  $175
Cost for returning students:  $170
