Have you always wanted to learn to weave but were intimidated by the cost and learning curve? No place to keep a large loom?  Rigid Heddle weaving is a great way to start weaving.  Rigid Heddle looms are small, portable, easy to use and don’t require a large investment.  You can even use easy-to-find knitting yarns instead of specialty weaving yarns.  In this class, the students will learn the techniques required to easily warp a Rigid Heddle Loom and make a balanced weave scarf with colors of your choice.

The class fee is $50; students should bring two 200-yard skeins of conrasting colors of worsted weight wool (preferred) or acrylic yarn.

To register and pay for the workshop, contact Susan Austin at fabulousfibers2015@gmail.com

The Woman’s Art Club has Rigid Heddle Looms to rent to students for the workshop. The loom use fee is $10 and is paid in class by a check made out to the WACCF. If you own a rigid heddle loom, bring your loom and all associated equipment. You may take a rented loom home to finish your project, and Susan will arrange for the return of the rented loom.

Class is limited to 8 students

Skill Level: no previous weaving experience needed.

Skills taught: Warping of a rigid heddle loom, creating a balanced plain weave, removing the scarf from the loom and trimming and tying fringe at the ends. Basic weaving terminology and techniques are covered.
